I Think You Must Consider Cairns For Your Upcoming Getaway

by admin on Sep.01, 2010, under Uncategorized

Lots of the best scuba diving sites on the Great Barrier Reef are within 25 miles of Cairns. That’s why Cairns is world renowned as the jump off point for diving at the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef . Whether you plan to go on a live-aboard, take a day boat out or learn how to dive, Cairns is the destination for you. The Reef is more than 2000km in length and is the largest coral reef system in the world. It is the also the only living thing visible from outer space. It is definately one of Mother Nature’s finest accomplishments and we have to do everything we can to keep it that way.

Cairns is a sub-tropical relaxed city with perfect beaches, such as Clifton Beach and Palm Cove, modern seafood restaurants, a very nice salt water lagoon perfect for swimming and the well maintained Cairns Esplanade for a romantic stroll overlooking the waterfront. You can checkout the palm-fringed beach towns Mission Beach and Port Douglas or take a boat tour to the always popular Fitzroy Island. Inland you can find amazing heritage listed rainforests, massive waterfalls and deep volcanic lakes. You may wish to sample the towns Kuranda, Mareeba and the capital of the tablelands,Atherton. Definately don’t forget the stunning Crater Lakes National Park. As well as the more well known Great Barrier Reef cruises there are rafting tours, seakayaking trips, cable cars, rainforest canopy walks and bungee jumps. Clubs, bars, restaurants and a wicked Cairns nightclub scene add to this already great vacation option offering activities and attractions for each one of us.

The weather in Cairns tends to be more pleasant in winter, from July to October, with much lower humidity levels, but basically Cairns can be visited at any time of the year. Water temperatures in the low 30s, tour operators for all sorts of Great Barrier Reef trips and extremely healthy and fish covered dive sites make Cairns one of the best dive destinations on the planet.
