The Algarve is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Portugal, with a population that almost doubles during peak tourist seasons. Located in the southernmost portion of Portugal, the coastline enjoys numerous stretches of sandy beaches with picturesque limestone caves and grottoes. The interior of the region offers rolling hills and fragrant orange, almond and fig orchards. With lots of sunshine and temperate waters, this Mediterranean locale is a prime tourist destination.
