Cell PhoneGPS Basics
by admin on May.04, 2010, under Uncategorized
Before long GPS will become almost as common as the telephone, or more likely included with every mobile phone. GPS can calculate locations accurate to a matter of. In fact, incredibly with advanced equipment it is possible to make measurements to better than a centimeter!
It’s just like giving every square meter on the globe its very own address. GPS receivers have become very economical as they have been miniaturized to just a few integrated circuits. Nowadays days GPS is incorporated into cars, boats, planes, construction equipment, movie making gear, farm machinery, laptop computers and especially phone handsets.
Tracking mobile phones is a active topic with a lot of interest. Much of the discussion dealing with GPS tracking, cell phone GPS and mobile phone track software programs would be more meaningful with a GPS Satellite introduction and glossary.
GPS is an acronym for Global Positioning System. GPS satellites broadcast signals from medium earth orbit that GPS receivers use to determine three-dimensional location (latitude, longitude, and altitude) plus precise time. The GPS network is made up of 3 main segments: Space Segment, Control Segment and User Segment.
The GPS Space Segment is composed of twenty-four to thirty-two satellites that orbit the earth at a height of about 12,000 miles. These satellites are referred to as the GPS Constellation, and they make an orbit once every 12 hours. They are not geostationary, but rather move at over 7,000 mph. They are solar powered but have battery reserve for when they are in the earth’s shadow. They are positioned so that there are at least 4 satellites ‘visible’ from any point on earth. Small rocket boosters on each satellite keep them properly positioned. The satellites last about ten years until all their fuel runs out.
GPS Satellites are not communications satellites. Geostationary or communications satellites are at a much higher orbit of about 22,300 miles above the equator. These satellites are used for weather forecasting, satellite TV, satellite radio and most other types of global communications. At exactly 22,000 miles above the equator, the earth’s gravitational force and centrifugal forces are canceled and are in equilibrium. This is the ideal location to place a communications satellite. The earth rotates at about 1,000 miles an hour, and because of their high earth orbit the geo-synchronous satellites need to move at about 7,000 mph to sustain position. This is just about the same speed as GPS satellites, but since stationary satellites are 10,000 miles further away they stay in place relative to the earth.
The GPS Control Segment made up of Master Control Station, an Alternate Master Control Station, and a host of dedicated and shared Ground Antennas and Monitor Stations that work together to ensure the satellites are working to specification and the data they beam down to earth is accurate.
The GPS User Segment is comprised of of GPS receivers taking the shape of mobile phones and , laptops, in-car navigation devices and hand-held tracking units along with the people that use them, and the software applications that make them work.
GPS receivers compute location by precisely timing the signals sent by GPS satellites. This information includes the time the message was transmitted, precise orbital information (the ephemeris), and the general system health and rough orbits of all GPS satellites (the almanac).
Keep in mind that there is a fundamental difference between smartphone GPS Tracking and GPS Navigation. GPS cell phone tracking is usually related to someone keeping records of either real-time or historical handset location, while Navigation deals with the cell phone user determining how to get from point A to point B. Neither use works without some sort of third-party software program.
An impressive software package that features remote control of device settings, and combines Mobile Phone Tracking with SMS text message, Call Log, MMS multi-media message monitoring, and a web account for storage and review is PhoneBeagle.

GPS is made up of 24 GPS satellites, portable GPS receivers, and various ground-based support facilities.
The GPS receiver is either a standalone handheld device or electronic unit mounted on a vehicle dashboard or other movable item such as an ocean freight container, and now particularly common to be found inside phone handsets . Abbreviated “GPS” in common use.

All they need is a phone that is turned on and they will have all that they need to get a pretty good gauge of exactly where your teen’s cell phone is.
That is the key – the cell phone must be turned on. If it is not turned on then the police couldn’t find your signal which will not allow them to track you position. Some simple training on how to do this without getting your phone taken is important.
Some parents need help when it comes to parenting a rebellious teen. This type of teen is at high risk of causing a pregnancy or getting pregnant, starting scuffles with other teens, getting involved in the drug trade, drinking, doing drugs, engaging in acts of vandalism, robing, murdering, and stealing. This type of activity can ruin a teen’s life and the lives of all that they come into contact with. That is where GPS tracking can do your favor.
We must realize that GPS cell phone tracking should not be used as a substitute for sound parenting techniques. Instead, it is a tool that parents can leverage in raising safe, secure, and socially adept teenagers.
There is no doubt of the power of GPS cell phone tracking. It can help you keep teens safe while they operate motor vehicles, assist the authorities int he recover of an abducted teen, and be used as a parenting tool for rebellious teens. In the final analysis, GPS cell phone tracking for teenagers ensures they can travel safety . Utilizing this technology allows grants them access to information that makes wise and thoughtful parenting a reality in this fast paced society. GPS cell phone tracking can really help people live better lives.
GPS Tracking Systems

The Global Positioning System, or GPS as it is wildly known, is a tracking system aided by satellites in space that beam down precise signals through radio to GPS receivers throughout the world. This system is effective in pinpointing the exact location of moving or stationary objects anywhere in the world through helping the receivers accurately find their location in terms of longitude, latitude and altitude.
There are various GPS receivers available on the public market. Some come with special features and an array of looks. There are lots you can choose from to suit your business or personal needs. Take the time to research the different types of GPS receivers and decide what would be best for you.
Motor Vehicle GPS: This is the most convenient type of GPS. For the first time you do not have to be fumbling and flipping through a map book whilst driving. There are some affordable models for your car, and are easily attached to the dashboard or windscreen. There are some GPS systems that will help you calculate the distance in kilometers to your destination, and will even help you choose the best and quickest route. Car GPS systems normally have a voice guide that will tell you when to turn and where to go without you being too distracted by having to look at the screen whilst driving. You can also save familiar destinations into your system to access them easily. GPS trackers are even capable of telling you where there will be a speed trap or police activity on the road. As a novelty you can even load pictures and photos onto your GPS and have these images showing as a slide show whilst the system is not in use.
PDA Navigation: These are personal GPS devices, which can be useful on a hunting or hiking expedition. You will be able to know your exact position at any given time, and will be able to find your way successfully to any destination that you wish. There is a plethora of PDA navigation devices for you to choose and benefit from.
GPS Vehicle Tracking: This is only to keep track of where the car is traveling, but will not tell you how to reach the destination. GPS tracking especially useful for companies who are wishing to track exactly where company cars are being driven, and how far. Car security and insurance companies have caught onto vehicle tracking in a big way, for this kind of GPS is very efficient in locating stolen cars. A paranoid parent can even use a GPS vehicle tracking system to check up on their teenager who has just started driving, and the use of this kind of GPS system can even extend to those suspecting a spouse or partner of disloyalty.
GPS Maps: GPS maps are great for fishing expeditions, and will assist you in locating hidden coves and following coastlines. GPS maps ensure you travel safety .
In conclusion, there are many different kinds of GPS systems, and you only need to decide what you would need a system for before venturing out to purchase one.
