If you are looking for a holiday, this may just help to provide some useful (useless) information to help you decide, or at least you will have something to impress your mates with.

Antigua has become a big tourist resort but do you actually know what the word “Antigua” means? Antigua is a Spanish word and means Ancient, it received its name thanks to Columbus, who named it after a church in Santa Maria!

Barbados has a very rare national flower, but do you know what it is? This flower was thought to only grow on Barbados, and it is called the “Pride of Barbados” it is a form of Hibiscus flower.

St Lucia wasn’t always the luxury holiday location it is today, it was an island of war. This was an island of war with the French and the British fighting over it for many occasions earning its name “Helen”.

How many people do you think live on Jamaica, just a rough guess, and I bet that you get it completely wrong. Bermuda may be the place where planes and boats are rumored to go missing, but lets not talk about this. Everyone assumes that Bermuda is one island when in actual fact they couldn’t be more wrong, this “area” actually consists of 138 small islands and 1 main land.

You are sure to have a great time especially in Barbados.Since 2004 the tourism industry has been increasing in Barbados and there’s no sign of it slowing down.  Here are some of the things that you should definitely try when you are going on Barbados holidays:

1.    Go sailing on a catamaran.  This is a great way for you to enjoy the clean blue ocean while having a few beers and being told about the area by a guide.The sights will be amazing, and you will be able to enjoy all of the marine life around you.

2.    Try the Ocean Park Aqaurium.Go into the Aqaurium to find all kind of sea life just metres away from you.

3.    Learn To Surf.Clearly this must be tried.It doesnt matter if you fall off this is just for fun, you never know you could be a born natural.

4.Go on the Island Safari.  Join an island safari and visit some of Barbados best kept secrets you will have a great time and see things others won’t have ever seen.

5.    The local arts and crafts.If you get the chance you must try and visit some of the museums or galleries with some very unique art.

6.The Submarine adventure.Everyone has to try this given the opportunity, you have a great underwater view of all the sea life, and you don’t even need to swim.

7.    St Nicholas Abbey.  This is a breathtaking sight and when you reach the top at 800 feet above sea level, you will be provided with an amazing view over the island.

8.    Cave Bay.  This is a white sand beach that is very peaceful.The border of this beautiful beach has a natural rock wall running around it with ancient ruins not far away.

9.The St Lawrence mile long strip.A huge strip that’s 1 mile long, if you like dancing and having a few drinks then come down here for a late night.

10.The special Barbados Inn.For all you swashbucklers out there, or just those that want to experience the life of a pirate, head to this pub for a smashing time.
