Taking vacations in France has changed a great deal in recent years and if you want to camp in France today, you will find a great many very well equipped facilities. Camp sites have become more like resorts and with the added convenience of mobile campers and fully equipped family tents, camping will never be the same again.

Relaxing and being entertained is easy when you are in France, they cater for a huge tourist industry, and many very attractive camp sites in both country and coastal setting are available. You just pack up your tent or camper and move on to the next spot. This enables the holiday maker to see as many or as few different places as they like.

Resort-like French campsites are well organized and maintained, they have every facility you would ever need, and are great value for money. By planning your camping holiday carefully, you should be able to find a site that allows to close access to the sea shore and the countryside, this way you can explore miles of these areas, without even having to drive. Make sure you take your bicycles with you.

You can camp in the Alp or in Vendee, the Cot ‘dAdur or Cannes, all these areas are grist for the mill of the avid camper. Take Granny and Granpa with you as well as the kids, and make it a real family holiday.

Take for instance the coast of Gascony and Royan, these areas are famous for long sandy beaches, high dunes, and even pine forests, a strange eclectic mixture of landscapes. The Valley of the River Charente is popular with campers and it is a Congnac making area. Oléron is an island accessible by bridge and it has great beaches as well as being home to a fantastic ancient Citadel.

Food and France work hand in hand, and restaurants proffer fine wines and even finer food to their guest. What money you save by camping, should be used to sample some of the local seafood and other fare. For really great wine making it is highly recommended that you pay a visit to the Médoc peninsula in Royan.

One of the most important oyster farming areas can be found just south of Bordeaux, and Bordeaux wines are also world recognized. Yes oysters are farmed, but perhaps in not the conventional sense! Bordeaux is also world renowned for the fine wine it produces and while the kids are entertaining themselves with organized activities at your campsite, you could be off enjoying some seriously adult fun, wine tasting.
