Tips For Changing Automatic Car Transmission Fluid

by admin on Mar.05, 2011, under Vacations

Car owners will attest that most car manuals for automatic cars will say that you do not have to change the transmission fluid. This is not a fact, because most car owners are having their automatic transmissions fixed with the help of a mechanic. Making sure that you change the transmission oil and fluid every 30,000 miles or so will ensure proper car function for a long time. This article will broaden your insight when it comes to the function of automatic car transmission fluid.

A car’s automatic transmission is subjected to high heat because of friction. Friction can be caused by any of the following: movement of the fluid inside the torque converter, movement of the clutch plates when it is engaged, and the normal friction you encounter from movement such as those from turning gears and bearings to carry the load of the car. This friction produces heat that can cause damage to your car’s transmission. Overheating is the number one cause to car breakdowns. This is something our customers have to understand of our San Diego Amsoil dealers company.

Of course it is important that you use the proper type of automatic transmission fluid. Using the wrong fluid will cause damage to your transmission as well. A good idea would be to check your car manual or check the dipstick of your car. The type that you need is both indicated there for your reference. Using the wrong type of fluid can affect the way the transmission shifts and feels. This is very important for your car that is why we tell this to all clients of our Amsoil synthetic motorcycle oil.

It may get a bit difficult in changing the transmission on automatic transmissions. This is due to the fact that there is no drain plug. In order to remove the fluid, you also have to remove the pan. It is important that you have a catch pan which will be able to hold all the fluid which will drip out. For automatic cars, about a third of the fluid is stored in the torque converter. You cannot drain this so technically you will only be changing a small portion of the fluid. This is better though than not changing it. That is why you should have professionals do it such as our Amsoil synthetic lubricants service.

Clean the pan well before you return it to its place. Make sure that you also position the new filter in its proper position. Follow the correct guideline in terms of filling up your transmission. Check the dipstick and see if you have enough fluid already. Make sure that you also test drive the car to ensure the level of the fluid. A good time to check on the level is when the engine has already ran.

Caring for your car’s two essential parts

by admin on Dec.30, 2009, under Uncategorized

One thing about the cars in our society is certain, we need them. Many people in different places can’t really survive without a car. Sure there are buses but it makes it hard especially in this busy life.It makes sense to know how to care for cars since they are very important in our lives.  So we are going to look at two major parts of our car that always need to be maintained.

The first part that is so important to a car is the engine. This is like the heart of a car.If you don’t take good care of this part of your car it will absolutely stop working. So in my Vista auto repair service I make sure my customers know how important this part is.But it is painless also to take good care of. If a person were to just do regular tune ups and change the oil they will keep their car in good shape.

The transmission is the next important part of the car. In being able to drive your car this is critical. If your transmission break down so does the entire use of your car.  In my Oceanside auto repair shop I see so many broken down transmissions. Most of the failures could have been prevented. The main way to do that is to make sure there is enough fluids always.Plus to ensure that changing gears are done gently and at a complete stop always.

Taking good care of your car’s transmission and engine isn’t that difficult as you can see.All it takes is a commitment to ensure to take care for that specific part of your car.  I tell all of my clients of my shop that doing a little maintenance now will save them a lot of money later. They end up having cars that last a long time without any problems those who are willing to do that.  Those that don’t end up with cars they have to bring in all the time with problems.
