Copacabana and Ipanema shall no longer be safe. Probably, your flats, apartments and hotels are about to be overrun, if they haven’t already. The garden gnomes are here on holiday with a few days to kill, literally. Here are some tips on surviving the assault before they are crawling all over the real estate that you just happen to be occupying.

Before everything, you need to be familiar with your exit strategies for the apartments or hotels that you might be staying at. Practice exiting from a first-story window. You may need to jump from your accommodations if a hoard of gnomes are crawling around your flats. Don’t forget to remember the layouts. Those little bastards have been known to cut power lines. Also, be sure and have a second bicycle hidden. Lawn gnomes always disable your car rentals and also your bicycle before their strike. And finally, don’t forget cardio. That bicycle won’t do you any good in the event you can’t peddle your heart out.

If escape from your apartments or hotels are not an option, you may be left with hand to gnome combat. Keep a weapon in every room so you will have something available to fight back. Also, get in the habit of dressing in layers. Their little blades and arrows will have a harder time penetrating layers of clothes. This will make accommodations for at least some security.

Also, you can’t forget to train for the impending doom of a garden gnome assault in Rio de Janeiro. Practice rising from bed quickly in attack mode. One hand to extends to for a flashlight and the other should already have a weapon in hand to club or stab the little demons. One might also think about rentals of some robust firepower.

No one ever envisioned for this kind of assault to occur in Rio de Janeiro, so best of luck. No one envisioned that the garden gnomes would be travelling south. So it looks like you will have to cut your vacation short.

Sant Antoni is one of the subdivisions of Eixample and offers some cultural attractions like fine dining and wine bars. The best thing about Sant Antoni, however, is that it is about as close you can get to the Congress Centre without leaving the city centre.

The transport connections in Barcelona are so good that you can even base yourself a bit further out. This will give you more options on where to stay depending on the kind of trip you are after. The bus and rail routes in the city take you around all of the most notable areas, and the congress centre is one of them.

Being in the city for business, the chances are you are just looking for somewhere clean and comfortable. Closest to the Placa de Espanya is the Arc de Triomf neighbourhood, which offers each of these requirements. It is not the most prestigious area of the city but is home to lots of pleasant places to stay.

And if you happen to have some free time, Arc de Triomf if is in an ideal position to allow you to walk to the majority of the city’s best-loved sites. For shopping the AvingudaDiagonal is not far away, and neither is the cathedral.

And right next door you’ll find the Parc de la Ciutadella, where you can find some much needed rest and relaxation from what could be a busy week.

When you are in Barcelona on business at the Congress Centre, there are lots of accommodation options available to you.
