English Holiday Destinations – Moors Valley Country Park New Forest

by admin on Jul.29, 2009, under Uncategorized

There is plenty to do when you visit Moors Valley country park and it is a fabulous day out for all the family. Entrance to the park is free of charge but you do have to pay for car parking. Attractions in the park incur an additional cost. Parking your car in the enormous parking area is a maximum of £8 for the entire day. Pretty good value for money really when you consider that you could easily spend the whole day in the park.

After parking your car in the spacious well hidden woodland car park and you enter further into Moors Valley you can breathe in the beauty of this country park – it really is lovely. The visitors centre is on approach to the park and this is a well blended 18th century barn that includes a restaurant and gift shop.

Close by to the 18th century visitors centre you will find a large play area for small and bigger children. Its spacious and very safe. Parents can help and watch their children from a safe distance and rest a while, while the children burn off their excess energy.

The station to the steam railway is located just behind the Visitors Centre. The steam train journey begins and ends here. The railway ranks up as one of the best steam railways in the country. The journey lasts for about 20 minutes and passes through some tunnels and tours around the park and lake.

An energetic way to get around Moors Valley if it something that suits you and your family is to hire a bike. Often you wish you had one of those bike carriers on your car – well here at this park you can hire one from the many available in the hire store. There are miles and miles of well mapped cycling paths here and it’s a great way to see the beauty of the park.

Moors Valley is the place to go if you wish to experience some tree top high wire acts. It is one of the homes of Go Ape, a tree top high wire experience for the over 12’s and reasonably fit, adrenaline thrill seekers. It lasts for about 2 hours and is very popular so pre booking is essential.

The play trail is an absolute must for the children. There is some marvellous wooden play equipment spread throughout the whole trail and this in itself can take a couple of hours and the children have little realisation of how far they are going around the park because they are having so much fun on all the play features.

After a day out at Moors Valley Country Park you can be sure that the entire family will have lots of fun. You can return to your New Forest holiday accommodation after having a fun filled, energetic, packed day and knowing that all will sleep extremely well that night.

If you fancy a rest the next down the city of Southampton is also only a short drive away and you can find information on the Southampton website

Weekend City Breaks In Fort William And A Few Worthwhile Places Worth Visiting

by admin on Jul.28, 2009, under Uncategorized

Now that Inverness is no longer a town (it’s a city) Fort William is the largest town in the Highlands of Scotland. The town is an incredibly popular tourist center with a great many folk appearing to go hill walking on Ben Nevis. In the article below I take a look at three different places well worth a visit if you are taking a vacation in Fort William.

The Incredibly Interesting West Highland Museum

Founded in 1922 was the West Highland Museum in Fort William. A group of people from Lochaber wanted to create a museum, about life in the Highlands, for the people of the Highlands. The present building was purchased in 1926 from the British Linen Bank, and is located in Cameron Square, just off the Hight Street. Fascinating and small is how many people describe the museum. The exhibits in the museum present a fascinating insight into the way of life in the West Highlands throughout the years. Folk from all walks of life are represented, through the superb collections of artefact’s, picture’s and photograph’s

The Bold Old Inverlochy Castle

In fort William there are two Inverlochy Castle’s, the Old Inverlochy Castle and the new Victorian, chateau-style Inverlochy Castle, built in nearby Torlundy (which is now a luxurious hotel). The Old castle was rumoured to of been erected between 1270-1280, by John “the Black” Comyn, Lord of Badenoch and Lochaber, and chief of the Clan Comyn. Although the castle is in ruins, the layout hasn’t changed very much since it was first built. Lord Abinger carried out alterations and enhancements to the house, in preparation of a visit by Queen Victoria. Old Inverlochy Castle is still an important part of English and Scottish history, due to the part it played during the Civil Wars of the 1640′s.

The Exquisite Jacobite Steam Train

A trip on the Jacobite Steam Train, is an exhilarating way to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Highlands. The Fort William to the Mallaig journey takes one on a magical ride through the glens. One of the most sensational parts of the journey is going over the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which most folk|people will recognize due to the fact that it was used in the Harry Potter films. The 84 mile trip takes you past Loch Morar, Loch Nevis and Ben Nevis, with a break in Glenfinnan before arriving in Mallaig. There is about an hour and half in which to explore Mallaig, before the return journey, back to Fort William. This journey has often been declared, one of the Great Railway Journeys of the planet.

There is plenty of accommodation in Fort William available to book online but you will find a comprehensive list of hotels in Fort William at http://www.fortwilliamhotelscotland.com/

Canada has been said to hold the World’s greatest outdoor show

by admin on Jul.25, 2009, under Uncategorized

Let’s start by giving you the best description for what the Calgary actually is. One of the ways this Canadian show has been described is as the best outdoor show on the planet. And guess what, it will be running this year for ten days starting on the 3rd of July and finishing on the 12th.

Starting in 1912 the Calgary Stampede has become world renowned for its original and world famous events. This once a year show brings the whole world a great array of different performers and original events. These events were not really created in Canada, but they have been made even bigger thanks to the Calgary Stampede. The quickest way to explain what a Chuckwagon is, it’s a cart attached to several horses. Just like any other circular race, first one to the end, wins, the only difference is this can be quite dangerous.

The Grandstand at this event is amazing as well. The Calgary has so much to offer in way of professional dancers, singers, and world famous performers born in Canada. Famous figures like William Shatner have even made an appearance at the Calgary Stampede. Canadian holidays have become even more popular because of this event.

This place is anything but Dull, especially when you look through the brochure to find a show on the Grandstand stage called the “Wheel Of Death”. When you hear this, you know you have to pay them a visit. Basically the Wheel Of Death is comprised of two or more equally sized wheels at different ends on a pivot. It is quite something really, the wheels spin round and the acrobats perform tricks inside them and around them.

So visit Canada and embark on an adventure, try an Alaska cruise and sail through Canada into Alaska.

Holidays That Will Help You De-stress

by admin on Jul.24, 2009, under Uncategorized

For the majority of people going on holiday is all about getting away for a while, relaxing and distressing. Most only get a few weeks a year to enjoy their holidays so they choose the chilled out variety. Of course everyone finds different types of holidays relaxing, from a luxury cruise to trekking the rain forest.  Here are some of the more popular choices though.

Beach holidays.  The classic beach holiday has been a stable choice of the vacationer in search of relaxation for hundreds of years if not longer. This is most likely the case due to the fact you don’t really have to stand up very much, you can sip lovely drinks and top up your tan at the same time. The warm weather can deter some people however as they get hot and restless, so whilst beach holidays are very popular, they are not everyone’s first choice.

Cruises. Cruise holidays, especially river cruise holidays are another popular choice for those seeking a relaxing time. There is everything you could possibly need on a cruise ship within a five minute walk, so you never need to worry about traveling around or forgetting to take anything with you. People can see a series of some of the world’s most spectacular sites without even standing up and they can do whilst enjoying world class food at the same time. Also with cruises such as Oceania cruises, you’ve got a high chance of enjoying some great sun as well so you don’t miss out here either.

City Breaks. Maybe this option is not something you would consider traditionally relaxing. However, you’d be amazed at how many people enter the mode of being a tourist. This is a very strange phenomenon where tourists stroll around the city in a trance like state, studying the architecture and watching the people go about their business. The effect of this tends to cause people to become very relaxed and enter a happy-go-lucky state of mind, where they can really enjoy themselves and release any stress built up.

Looking for a bargain cruise?

by admin on Jul.22, 2009, under Uncategorized

Every dreamed of going a cruise holiday, but decided not to because you thought it was too expensive? So look out, there’s good news! There are so many options out there where you can find yourself taking a dream cruise vacation which will cost you less than half the price of a luxury cruise. Thanks to bargain cruises online where you can now afford the ultimate cruising experience.

All you need to have is time to research these sites where they offer bargain cruises. With some research you are sure to find yourself a best deal. Now bargain cruises means different to different people. It could either mean a $100 per person per day cruise or 50% off on the retail price of a luxury cruise. So, in essence, a bargain cruise would be one which you get great value for the cash that you are willing to spend.

You can find that there are lots of travel agents out there that can assist in getting bargain cruises. Travel experts or vacation experts that specialize in cruises can help you get the best deal as they are always aware of the last minute deals that cruise lines offer. There can be some great offers that you cannot resist.

Lots of times major cruise lines companies want to fill up empty cabins therefore they offer as high as 75% discounts for such cabins. Don’t forget, you need to keep a look out for some such offers. So be sure to be constantly shopping around the internet to grab this opportunity.

Don’t forget to keep in touch with travel agents and visit the websites frequently to find out if any of the big cruise lines are bargaining on empty cabins. Shopping online for bargain cruises is always the best option as you can get special offers and last minute deals if you search diligently.

Unfortunately, you may find that there may be some restrictions if you decide to choose a bargain cruise. Sometimes, booking a passage with a ship which also carries freight, can be considered as a choice for a bargain cruise. You may find that you do not get all the excellent shows or the lavish 1st class meals that you may find on a normal cruise liner. But you will certainly see many ports of calls that a traditional cruise liner do not see.

Bargain cruises are not the first choice for every one. All some people want when it comes to cruising experience, is luxury and comfort. Lots of entertaining shows, brilliant food, great facilities and service are the features that cruise vacations offer.

But, if you are determined to find a great bargain cruise, you may have to give up on these luxuries. It definitely won’t be like the dream cruise vacation you always dreamt off but if you still want to experience the ocean voyage by not losing much from your wallet then a bargain cruise can suit your need.
